The real estate developer is Daniel Corporation, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Here are the major details that have become public.

Overview

• Name: Point Clear Club (sometimes referred to in earlier planning documents as Pt. Clear Golf Club)
• Location: West of County Road 3, south of Monk Road, approximately 3–4 miles south of downtown Fairhope.
• Size: Approximately 547 acres overall.
  • About 310 acres are in the first development phase.
  • The remainder lies east of County Road 3 for future phases.

Golf Course

Perhaps the biggest news for golfers is the choice of designer.

• Designer: Tom Fazio, widely considered one of America’s premier golf course architects.
• Course: Private 18-hole championship golf course.
• The developers have indicated they intend to create one of the premier private golf experiences on the Gulf Coast rather than another daily-fee course.

Residential Development

Current plans include:

• Approximately 123 residential lots in Phase I.
• Ultimately 300+ homes across the entire project.
• Gated private community.
• High-end custom homes surrounding the golf course.

Club Amenities

Plans released so far include:

• Elegant clubhouse
• Restaurant
• Practice facilities
• Private member amenities
• Historic residence on the property incorporated into the clubhouse concept

Environmental Features

The architectural vision emphasizes preserving the Point Clear landscape and historic character. One aspect receiving considerable attention has been preservation of the mature live oaks.

Developers have:

• relocated several 200-year-old live oak trees,
• hired specialized contractors to move rather than remove significant trees,
• stated they intend to preserve as much of the existing canopy as practical.

The tree relocation has been covered extensively because of the engineering involved.

Construction Status

As of the latest public reports:

• Site work has begun.
• Drainage and infrastructure construction are underway.
• Tree relocation is ongoing.
• Final approvals for the first phase have largely been obtained.
• Developers have suggested the golf course could be ready for play late 2027, assuming construction proceeds on schedule.

Economic Impact

The project is expected to:

• attract affluent retirees and second-home owners,
• increase luxury home construction,
• add property tax value,
• strengthen Fairhope’s reputation as a luxury residential destination,
• compete with other upscale golf communities throughout the Southeast.

How It Fits with Existing Fairhope Golf

The Eastern Shore currently offers several established golf options:

• Rock Creek Golf Club (public)
• The Lakewood courses at the Grand Hotel (Point Clear)
• Quail Creek
• Nearby Lake Forest in Daphne

Point Clear Club is intended to occupy a different niche. They are planning a high-end, invitation-oriented private club similar in concept to exclusive golf communities found around Naples, Florida, or the South Carolina Lowcountry, rather than a public resort course.
